I was just looking at the schedules for all the tracks posted on the calendar here. Is it just me, or are there just too many tracks in Texas? It seems like you have a couple of top tracks that pull decent car counts every time, but then others seem to be only getting 20 to 30 cars. How can they even stay in business?

Until you live where we do.  No local track, unless it opens back up.  driving 200 miles to Abilene track.  Others in the the 150 mile range haven't been the best tracks, but new owners might help that.  Our low budget racing doesn't have enough room for the travel and overnight hotel rooms.

At least not enough around here yet. I heard yesterday that the guy IS going to build the track. Two tracks actually one 1/8th and one 1/4. And I have heard a few rumors about Doloca (I think that is how you spell it) is going to open back up.

There aren't too many tracks in Texas, there are just too many concentrated in one area. I don't see how any of the Dallas tracks make money. There aren't enough racers to support them all equally.

Luckily the spectator population for the DFW area is what keeps the tracks alive. Each track is within an hour-2 of each other, however they all are in a geopgraphically different loctation and pull in different people. There are enough people in localized areas(north, south east and west) to support the tracks becuase they all are in different locations.

Go to the "show" races and you will see the crowds they can bring in!

Not to many.
To many in one area operating at the same time and/or day.

Not too many, In fact it's pretty close to perfect. I can tow for about two hours and go to NINE tracks! Of course I wouldn't race a few of those, cedar creek and yellowbelly, but we do have the option.
