You hit on something I haven't been able to figure out..
One track has the same entry fee as another but pays a higher purse (Little River vs anyone), but has fewer racers.. In the past the complaint was rough track, owner (Linda, Greg, Linda, Hutch), program suck's, etc.. You get the point. Then they go to the track with the smaller payout and cry about that..
Question is what does it take to get racers in the gate??
In the past there were fewer tracks so no competition, whats the issue now?
Has anyone came up with a different program lately or are they going to do the same stuff that didn't work in the past and hope for a different result ?
Greg, That is what I think should be done as well.. Everyone wants to get a little money.. Problem is the "big" kids don't like that, although they will split in a heartbeat..

Another issue is no break cards, That's a thing of the past as well.. Why not deduct the price of admission and give them a partial credit towards their next entry? It doesn't matter so much to the well funded racers but the true weekend warrior is scraping the bottom just to get to the track..

I think you have two distinctly different groups of racers. You have those that only chase big money, and those that just want to race. I think if you can give the guys who just want to race, even a small return, it helps to build up their confidence and it's especially good for them to brag to their wives about. I mean even if it's only $30 for losing 3rd round, it's not much, but that may pay for the race fuel they used.

A lot of tracks have a no break card policy, and I understand their reasoning, but in the long run it doesn't make good business sense. So someone comes out, breaks their car, and to add insult to injury they're out their entry money before even being able to compete?? Obviously it's different if it happens in eliminations, but maybe put a 60 day limit on it's validity or something.

Big money boosts for the tracks don't necessarily mean bigger payouts.

Some tracks like HRP will allow you to "buy back" even if you missed first round. As long as second round hasn't started yet. You still pay the regular entry fee and the buy back fee and start at second round. This year they are starting to give 1/2 points for buy back round wins.
I've seen other tracks do this too. I don't believe you should earn points after a buy back. I know i would never run at a race with any kind of fast forward garbage. I'm just hoping no track owners see this as a good idea and tries to start doing it.

Great - if you are not running points or you are running points and count a round win as a round win including a buyback. If you do like a we do and don't count a buyback win as a point, then you can't let them back in if they don't take the tree first round. You'd have to write it down, then manually jack with the round data in the track computer to "fix" the data if the racer wins Round 2 (example - change W to L for that round to not score the point).

this is the first year that they are giving 1/2 points to buy backs. Not going to race there much if at all. I don'tlike hte 2 day racing either.

Points for buy backs is not cool. There's not much difference between this fast forward thing and buying back anyway. Nothing dumber than losing a round of racing a buying your way back in. Just my opinion.

Maybe if tracks quit trying to squeeze every dollar out of the people that come, they would have more showing up? I like the consolation bracket idea. Don't let the big money buy their way to the points standings.
I do have to add that we don't participate in any points programs. We haven't had a local track, so we travel to tracks all around our region.
