The guy from the staging lanes is also with IHRA because he has been at the bracket finals every year I've been there for the last 3-4 years, at PV and Dallas. And I believe I remember a few others from IHRA being there that were not track personnel. I just hope they figure it out and correct it next year.

Falcon, the practice tree race wasnt in Div 2.I just returned yesterday from working the D2 East Finals in Darlington,SC and the D2 West Finals in Steele,Al and we settled those races on the track.I hated that the Dallas Finals ended up the way they did and you racers had problems in the staging lanes.Just reading these post, the person with the "chip" was not hard to figure out.Not the first time this same problem has been mentioned this season and Frank is aware of it.He and I have had discusions about it and also with the person.

Good to know - wrong info floating around here.

Note - AFAIK, the guy running the lanes does not work for IHRA.  I forget which track he's with.  He did not work SAR, at least I don't remember hm from there.  He did run the lanes at Pine Valley.  The only IHRA employees on site - and I was told this by an IHRA employee - were Sherrie and Frank.  Plenty wearing IHRA shirts, but they do not work for the home office.  They just wear the shirts so people know they are a race official.

FWIW - the f-cast we looked at Thursday when we left Abilene showed good weather  EVERYBODY running that race was basically a volunteer from SOMEWHERE ELSE.  Dallas has NO staff and IHRA pulled in people where they could.  The host track typically supplies the help - Dallas could not.  There were only two official IHRA people there - Frank and Sherrie.  The lady helping with staging at the circle track and running the computer was from the Motorplex.  They ran a hell of a race for what it was with a slap together staff.

FWIW - If you can do better, step on up I'm sure they could use the help next year.  Assuming Dallas is still on line and we're not at Pine Valley.

Wait a second we have alot of info here that is not correct. The "lady"(Cindy) is not a motorplex employee. She used to work the motorplex computers, until dallas opened. She has not been at the plex in 2 years. Sammy, the Dallas Raceway Race director is her husband. Dallas Raceway is understaffed YES, it has been since it was opened. However, there were 2 dallas raceway employees working the box. Another checking dial-ins, 2 others on the starting line(one including gooch who was a former motorplex employee), one at the et booth. Both of Franks sons were working at the back of the lanes(fence line). Joel an IHRA employee(WELL like Tommy I think) along with another (the chip) IHRA employee were working the lanes, Sammy was always at the front of the lanes as well. Cindy was also helping out with the registration. Not many people will work long hot days for $10 an hour around here at a race track, that is one of the down falls of the tracks around here. Usually you see alot of the weekly bracket racers supplying help for the pay on "off" bracket nights. Heck I had to work at Dallas Raceway this year.

BTW Joel was working the starting line at our Run-off last friday night.

Yes he did a fine job in my eyes. After our run-off I went up and talked with him and helped work the line a little bit Joel is a good guy and I hope he will be the starter next year as well. Always good to have someone with some knowledge keeping us safe and preping a good starting line.

Max, thank you for correcting me.  Apparently I was given some incorrect info.  I may have mis-understood Cindy when we were talking down at the circle track - when she talked about the Plex, she may have said it in a way of "in the past" and I missed that part.

I do know that putting on an event that size is a hell of an effort and I'm personally thankful for the effort by the folks working the race.

Ugh!  That happened to our guy that won the wild card draw in 2004 or 5 - had to make two trips to Rockingham.

From Abilene we have:

Top A-Team: Joanna Tinsley
Mod A-Team: Ty Casey (damn my slow light)
Top B-Team:  should be decided this coming weekend
Mod B-Team: Debbie Kelly <-- I still get to go as crew  Grin
Jr: should be decided this coming weekend

We were supposed to be all done last weekend, but one of the only two Top B-Team guys could not make it and the other wanted to wait for a run off.  In Jrs, one of the girls' dragster got damaged last weekend and they all also decided to wait to run.  That's real racers for ya - could win on a forfeit, but given the choice lets run for it.
